Humanities

We all have an innate desire to know where we belong and what makes our world the way it is. The Humanities give students this fundamental underpinning to their lives.
The Humanities program covers:
-  Geography
-  History
-  Business and Economy
-  Social Studies
-  Environmental Studies Global Citizenship

The program includes explaining the contribution of different cultures to the growth of our diverse society or comparing how people utilise their environment to satisfy various needs. From Prep to Year 6, these subjects are combined into integrated units called Units of Enquiry, using a scope and sequence of skills and content to develop an increasing understanding of the past, the present and the possible future.

From Year 7 to 12, these individual subjects confront students with the understanding that there are constraints imposed on the way we can act; we are obliged to operate within limitations imposed on us by the natural environment. We have to understand the ideas and values that bind people together in order to maintain a stable society. On the other hand, students also learn that the world is constantly changing and that it is individuals who make things happen. The Humanities gives students the understanding they need to make sense of what is going on in the world, and the perspective to view their role in the world positively.
