Welcome Back
Our first two days back at AIS have been busy with students meeting new friends and their teachers. We have welcomed 70 new students to AIS this week which has brought our total enrolment above 400 students. A highlight was definitely our Chinese / Lunar New Year Lion Dance performance.
Welcome Back Morning Tea
We will host a Welcome Back Morning Tea after next Friday’s Primary Assembly. New & returning parents are invited to come along and get to know one another. Please click this link to RSVP so we know how many we should cater for. Returning parents are invited to bring a plate of snacks along with them, but please note that this is not mandatory.
AIS Teacher Conference
Last Thursday 23rd & Friday 24th the teachers from AIS Bali and AIS Jakarta came together for the 2025 AIS Teachers Conference. Our guest presenter this year was Dr Selina Fisk who described herself as a data storyteller who is passionate about helping others sort through the numbers to tell impactful data stories, and lead positive change in their sphere of influence. Dr Selina led two fascinating workshops for teachers on Telling Effective Data Stories and a Culture of Data-Informed Practice. She also led a separate session for school leaders on leading gathering, analysing and using data. Teachers also worked collaboratively on planning for 2025 and participated in a range of collegial led workshops where the teachers from the two campuses led workshops for their peers in areas of expertise and interest. The new teachers from both campuses participated in a workshop on Saturday 25th on our Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum.
Canteen & Lunches
Students and parents can order lunch for the following week by following this link.
2025 Term 1 Week 2 (03 Feb - 07 Feb)
Students from Years 4 - 12 can purchase directly from the canteen at morning recess and lunch. Our canteen is cash free, so parents should top up their accounts at the uniform shop with Ibu Asti or using bank transfer (details below).
Parents are asked to either order their children’s lunch or send a homemade lunch to school with their children in the morning. We will not be accepting lunches delivered for students during the day. As AIS is growing the management of lunch delivered from home is impacting the effective running of the school. No outside deliveries from restaurants or GoJek will be accepted for students.
ACER PAT Tests
Next week students from Year 1 - 10 will participate in the ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) PAT (Progressive Achievement Tests) Assessments. The ACER PAT are a series of assessments designed to measure and track students' academic progress in key areas like reading, mathematics, and general ability. These tests provide valuable insights into a student’s strengths and areas for improvement, offering a clear picture of their learning development over time. The PAT assessments are age-appropriate, adaptive, and help identify individual learning needs, assisting teachers in tailoring instruction.
Adaptive assessments adjust the difficulty of questions based on a student's responses. If a student answers correctly, the test presents more challenging questions, and if a student answers incorrectly, the test offers easier questions. This approach ensures that each student is tested at the right level for their current abilities, providing a more accurate measure of their knowledge and skills.
We will implement these assessment in Term 1 Week 2 and Term 3 Week 7 each year and use the information to inform our planning and teaching in addition to allowing us to monitor student growth.
