AIS provides a vehicle lane only for dropping or picking up the students at certain times. Cars are not to park inside the school area.

The Academic year at AIS aligns with the calendar year: January to December, divided into two semesters and four terms of approximately equal length.

Yes. Literacy and Numeracy assessments will be conducted during the admissions process. However, these are used to assist with placement, not to screen for admission.

School holidays occur in between terms for approximately two weeks in April and September, while holidays last for about a month in the middle of the year, as well as at the end of the year.

The level placement of the children is determined based on their ages per 31st March and examining the academic reports from their previous schools.

Yes. AIS has more than 30 nationalities as part of the student body, with some students not able to speak English initially. In order to help the students reach their academic goals, AIS provides an exceptional English as Additional Language (EAL) program, which will be given after an in-depth observation is carried out by our highly experienced EAL teachers.

AIS Jakarta offers scholarships annually, exclusively for Indonesian nationals, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Applicants are required to complete an Application Form, provide school reports from the last two (2) years, and write an essay. Requirements may vary and will be announced upon opening. 

Financial assistance may be provided to families of students who have been enrolled at AIS for more than one year, and who pay the fees personally. AIS reserves the right to award financial support on a needs basis.

The average class size is 18 to 24 students.

The language of instruction for all subjects is English, except for Indonesian Studies, which will be conducted in Indonesian. In secondary school, language options can include French, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

Yes. AIS is an inclusive school, and inclusion serves as one of the most important values at AIS. Students who have learning difficulties or are in need of special attention may be accepted to the Learning Support program after comprehensive observation is conducted prior to commencement. The Learning Support program at AIS has accepted students diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, students with Down syndrome, ADHD, Asperger’s syndrome, global developmental delays, speech delays, dyslexia, etc.

We also accept students for whom English is Another Language (EAL).

As a multicultural school, AIS has more than thirty nationalities represented in the school community.

As enrolment at AIS is open throughout the year, the admissions process can be start anytime, preferably 3 months prior to the anticipated date of commencement.

AIS has a canteen from where parents can order snacks or lunch meals with variety of menus for their children. Orders can be placed on a weekly or daily basis.

Yes. AIS provides an optional bus service covering certain areas for one-way or return travel. School bus transportation will be charged separately.

The safety of children as well as the security of AIS campuses is paramount. There are certain procedures to enter the school area and to exit from it. CCTV surveillance is also used to enhance the security level.

Students of Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 at AIS sit the Australian NAPLAN (National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy) every year. Other assessments at all year levels from Foundation to Year 10 are internally set.

Yes. Class excursions, including camps, happen from time to time throughout the year as part of the school curriculum. Depending on the age of the student, excursions range from short-duration, local visits, to longer international overnight trips.

AIS actively participates in some inter-sport events and competitions, such as JASIS Swim Meets, Basketball Tournaments, as well as U8, U10, and U12 football competitions. AIS also takes part in the annual Australian International Schools Association sports carnival.

AIS offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities.
Arts: such as colouring, drawing, ballet dance, and contemporary dance.
Sport: including gymnastics, taekwondo, golf, basketball, soccer, and netball.
Educational: like Indonesian language classes, coding, and NAPLAN practices.
Fun: many including cooking and sewing. 
The activities are offered on a term basis and additional charges may be payable upon registration.

Music is one of many specialist programs at AIS that students attend as part of their regular program. In addition, AIS offers an instrumental program and choirs as a part of the extra-curricular activities program.

No. AIS does not provide after-school child care.

AIS only employs fully qualified teachers and specialists. Most of our teachers and specialists are expatriates from Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA. Specific language teachers come from South Korea and Japan; whereas highly qualified and experienced Indonesian nationals are also employed as local teachers. All teaching assistants and learning support assistants are Indonesian nationals.

The first day of school can be uneasy for students; however, the classroom personnel will ensure that they feel welcomed and will help them settle down. Parents or sitters may wait at one of our waiting areas during school hours and accompany the students once the school finishes.
