KEMANG BYTES

Kemang Bytes

Dear Parents and our AIS community,

This will be the last Bytes edition for term 2.

Thank you one and all for the wonderful support and dedication you have showed to our great school. As the Principal I have been humbled by the connection and commitment shown by both our parent body and our staff in the united pursuit of excellence in education for all our students. Even through tough times, there are so many wonderful stories and joys that have come out of this period of change and disruption. Looking through today’s highlighted stories below is a tribute to this. Well done to our superstar children!

Report cards and Assessment

Today you will receive your child’s report card and assessment pieces for Semester One. Please take the time to look through the achievements of your child and feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you have any queries.

Sadly, today we say goodbye to some of our students who will leave AIS for good. As it will be sad to see you go, we are also happy for our families who move back to their home countries or move on to new adventures. We wish these families all the best and wish you well.

Staffing changes

In term 3 there will be staffing changes. At this stage these teacher and structural changes are still being finalized and dictated by current enrolment numbers. I will notify all parents by email next Tuesday of what this will look like at Kemang. Thank you for your patience in this matter. These decisions are part of a restructure due to a decline in enrolment numbers and staffing costs, as outlined by the Board’s letter attached to this edition of the Bytes.

Next term ……. Pathway to Reopen

Next term will see an exciting new phase of learning at AIS. We will move to a hybrid style of learning that will see us cater for both Face to Face and Online learning simultaneously.

Today, our representatives will attend the last meeting with the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Basic Education and Secondary Education, to discuss our request, as an SPK School, for dispensation to be allowed to reopen under strict protocols and set guidelines.

This follows a meeting held last week where the Ministry was very receptive to SPK schools (private schools) opening up initially in a step by step process, with some students on campus while the other students would be online. This will mean opening up and delivering a hybrid model of learning consisting of face to face teaching and online learning.

Our school reopening plan has been well received and complimented by the Ministry and we await the final approval in the meeting being held today with our school’s government affairs personnel and the ministry.

Our AIS Reopening plan outlines how we meet the standards set by the Ministry and is a thorough document outlining operating procedures. This document has been attached to this edition of the Bytes for your perusal and comment. It is a working document and will change as new information and protocols come to hand.  If you wish to make comment on this plan, please email me at kemang@ais-indonesia.com

This week all Principals, along with the school board, met with Royal Progress Hospital in Jakarta. They will be helping us to audit our standard operating procedures along with our campuses to ensure that we are a COVID free school ready for face-to-face teaching in August.

When we are granted permission to open we will do so with a plan in place to ensure we are in line with Ministry guidelines. If, for some reason, we are not able to return to face to face teaching next term then we will start the term continuing with our online program.

As stated in our reopening plan, upon opening, we will follow the below stated staggered return timetable. As you can see, for the foreseeable future the school will only ever have 50% of the children on campus at any given time. This, of course, could change in accordance with government directives. Online learning will still run simultaneously to face to face teaching for those families not able to be in Jakarta, or families in Jakarta who do not wish for their children to return until a date later than Aug 3rd.
