Year 8 Bandung Camp
The Year 8 students, along with Ms Yasmin, Ms Katrina and Mr Aan went on camp on 20th-21st April 2011 for two days to Bandung for both Humanities and Science. As the year 8s have been learning about rocks and volcanoes, they had the chance to go and explore Bandung and its neighbouring areas, rich in hot springs, volcanoes and a huge number of rocks. On the first day they went to the Geology museum and saw all of the different rocks and crystals which are found in Indonesia and around the world. Whilst staying at the Sari Atar Hot Spring Resort everyone was able to plunge into the hot springs swimming pool and stand under a hot waterfall. When visiting the Mount Tangkuban Perahu volcano the next day they hiked up the mountain and admired the great beauty and extrusive gases of the volcano, although many agreed that the smell of sulphur, which is like rotten eggs, was not so nice! They even found time to do a spot of shopping and hard bargaining with the locals of Bandung and finished the day with a casual lunch and sleepy drive home on the bus!
