Student Representative Council (SRC) Valentine’s Day Celebration

Student Representative Council (SRC) Valentine’s Day Celebration

The first event that the SRC organized for 2011 was Valentine’s Day. To celebrate the day of love, the SRC members got together to inspire the students in new and exciting ways. The members chose to step outside of the usual AIS holiday celebration comfort zone, and take a chance on ‘Singing Telegrams.’ The singing telegrams themselves were widely successful and were an entertaining break from the usual routine of chocolate, roses and candies, often associated with Valentine’s Day. On the day, each SRC member was identified by their holiday attire, including pink or red shirts. Throughout the day, some talented singers from varying grades were taken out of class, to participate in serenading their peers with selected songs. Around lunch, the members of SRC went to individual students to distribute their gifts, often from admiring peers. Overall, Valentine’s Day was a very successful event, considering the limited time to advertise, promote the event and take orders, and also that the event was held on the 18 th, after Valentine’s Day which some students had already celebrated.
