House and SRC Leadership Day
Our new student leaders from Houses and the Student Representative Council (SRC) spent Monday 14th February together examining leadership issues. Students started the day by standing by a leadership quote that reflected their views on leadership. There were some very interesting opinions! Students and teachers then negotiated a charter that reflects the way in which students and staff would like to work together this year. This aimed to clarify the roles of staff and students and empower students in their role.
Ms Linzi led two very active sessions on conflict resolution and decision making. Simplifying the flow of communication was looked at, and committees formed to deal with issues of ‘Competition’, ‘Fundraising and Finance’ and ‘Student Welfare, Communication and Admin’.
Responsibilities for decision making were clarified and practiced using some tools that students could use to help them in decision-making and in planning events. The day finished with a personal reflection (FANTASTICAT) identifying what each leader would like to become ‘fantastic at’ this semester.
