Koala Karnival 2011

Koala Karnival 2011

Koala Karnival has turned into a Student Representative Council (SRC) run annual tradition after it enjoyed unprecedented success in its very first year, in 2010. Assisted in their planning by the SRC, students from each homeroom assigned themselves a theme and created game and food stalls based on it. Judging by the enthusiam, this year’s Koala Karnival turned out even more successful compared to 2010!

On the day, the students all came early to set up their stalls. It was fantastic to see how dedicated the students were to the event. The opening ceremony was initiated by the SRC with the cutting of a paper rope and the release of balloons which flew to the skies. As the primary students came as well, the day became livelier with the shouts and laughter of both the secondary and the primary students filling the air, creating the “carnival” atmosphere expected.

The closing ceremony started with Mr.Brenton congratulating the students on a well-organised day, and ended with a 1960s song sung by Jane Yr 7 ‘The carnival is over’ accompanied on the guitar by Junaidi Yr 12. Overall the day was extremely successful, and I am sure students are already looking forward to the next one. Prizes will be awarded at the next assembly for the most creative and most profitable Homerooms.
