Year 9 Camp to Lombok
24 Year 9 students had a week of fun and learning in Lombok at the end of Term 1, led by Mr Rod Ms Novi and Mr Mark. They arrived in Mataram at midday and straightaway went on some informative visits to Hindu temples and other significant historical sites. They spent time taking in the history and culture of the Lombok People before settling into their rooms at the Holiday Resort that night.
On day two, the tour party visited traditional Sasak villages to see local industries such as weaving and pottery making. A highlight was an afternoon of swimming and exploring at Novotel Hotel in Kuta Lombok. Dinner was on the beach at Alberto's restaurant and included some souvenir hunting.
Day three began with a trip to a local market and through the monkey forest followed by a boat ride to Gili Air for snorkelling and sightseeing. This included studying the coral through glass bottomed boats and visiting the turtle hatchery on Gili Trewangan.
Day four was a chance to rest, play, swim, walk on the beach and bargain for souvenirs before saying farewell to Lombok and flying home to Jakarta with many happy memories.
