Visit by the Australian Ambassador

The Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr Greg Moriarty, visited the Kemang Primary campus on Thursday this week. He was accompanied by the two Embassy Community Liaison Officers, Jan Cook and Kylie Archer. Pak Sabam Siagian, Advisor to the Yayasan Board was also present.
After being greeted by school leaders he was welcomed to AIS by our student captains and then listened to a stirring rendition of the school song by the Kemang choir. The students then presented him with a framed work of art collaboratively created by our Grade 1/2 students before he embarked on a brief tour of the school.
The Ambassador and Community Liaison Officers were very impressed with the school and showed great interest in our facilities and teaching program. They have agreed that all new Australian Embassy employees appointed to Indonesia will be fully briefed about AIS and what we have to offer alongside other options. In further discussions the Ambassador explained how he, and fellow diplomats, had informed themselves about our difficulties with some of the Government’s new education regulations and the manner in which they might be able to assist. It is significant that the Ambassador wanted to visit the school. I am hopeful that this marks the beginning of closer ties and increased collaboration on matters of mutual interest.
