Global Jaya Middle School Basketball Tournament
Pejaten recently competed in the Global Jaya Middle School Basketball Tournament which was held February 23. Here are the results:
Girls: Played in the finals for 3rd and 4th place against an Indonesian School called Sanur. With ten seconds left in the game and the girls down 4-2, Angie in Year 8 was fouled and given two free shots. She made them both to tie the game. With the game tied, the referees called for a five player free throw shoot out to determine the winner. AIS lost the shoot out by one basket and finished fourth.
Boys: Won every game and proceeded to the finals to play for 1st and 2nd place against JIS. The game ended in a tie and this led to a two-minute overtime in which the game remained tied until the last second of the game when JIS scored a basket as the buzzer sounded. The boys lost the game and finished 2nd place overall in the tournament. A wonderful effort.
