Dry Ice Day

Dry Ice Day

During Week 4 of Term 2, the Science department finally got their hands on some dry ice. Though they had been keenly anticipating its arrival for a few days, Mr Kenny and Mrs Anna were a bit surprised by the Friday delivery but managed to pull off their usual lunch duties as well as a set of whizzy demonstrations for students. With Miss Agra's organisation and fantasic experimental skills, we made "smoke", comets and inflated balloons; made liquids change colour and leaves feeze. After lunch, the Physics students did some experiments on the latent heat of sublimation of carbon dioxide before abandoning their usual lesson in favour of playing with bubbles and dry ice! Thanks to Margaret's mum (Year 8) for organising the supply.
