AIS acknowledges the excellent work of the retiring Head of School, Dean Parkin, who has lifted academic standards and provided sound educational leadership during his time in Balikpapan. Some time ago he indicated a desire to seek new challenges and further his career elsewhere in 2010 and so we have sought to replace him with a suitably experienced educator.

Ms Jackie Voth will commence duties as the Head of School and Grade 3/4 teacher in January 2010. Jackie is currently a Coordinator and Year 1 teacher at Toorak College, Victoria, Australia. She has previously taught at the Australian International Academy, Carrum Downs Primary School and spent one year as a classroom teacher at the AIS-Indonesia primary campus in Kemang, Jakarta. Jackie gained valuable administrative experience as the Year 2 Team Coordinator at the International School of Brunei where she taught for five years. So Jackie is no stranger to Borneo and is very much looking forward to meeting the school community early next year.
