AIS Celebrates Ten Years Of Achievement
The Australian International School (AIS) recently celebrated their 10th anniversary in Indonesia with a week of fun-filled activities from 16 to 24 June 2006 across the school’s three campuses in South Jakarta and Bali.
The school’s closely-knit community of teachers, parents and students actively participated in the celebrations that included a sports day, dinner cruise, music recitals, performances, art competitions and a family fete, culminating in a black tie dinner on June 23.
Held at the Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the gala dinner was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, HE Mr Bill Farmer, and his wife Elaine, Prof. Suyanto, Director-General of Management of Primary & Secondary Education, Ministry of National Education, AIS founding board members, parents and members of the Australian corporate community.
AIS officially commenced operations in Jakarta on July 15, 1996 with eleven students and four teachers. Today, still under the helm of founding principal, Penny Robertson, the school has 500 students (Kindergarten to Year 12) across three well-resourced campuses. Of the 72 pioneer staff in 1997, 32 are still working with the school.
During these ten eventful years, AIS has educated 1,800 students who have gone onto prestigious universities around the world, all nurtured to be active, compassionate global citizens.
AIS Principal Penny Robertson said, “AIS will enter its second decade well placed to provide a world-class Australian curriculum and best practice primary and secondary education for coming generations of expatriate and Indonesian students."
