Andrew Ward

Introducing New HOS for Primary School

I am pleased to announce that Mr Andrew Ward, currently Deputy Principal and Head of the Junior School at St Margaret’s School, Victoria, Australia, has been appointed the new Head of Primary at the Kemang campus. He will commence duties in Term 3 of this year.

The widely representative Head of School Selection Panel worked through a thorough process to ensure that the best person from a very strong field of candidates was chosen.

Andrew has been at St Margaret’s School since 2003 and during that time has been a major influence in strategic planning, policy and staff management, curriculum development and marketing. He had a significant input into the development and creation of major building works and has also been very proactive in the provision of ongoing professional development for his staff.

Andrew obtained his Diploma of Teaching at Adelaide University and followed this with a Graduate Diploma of Education at Ballarat University. He is currently completing a Master of Education (Educational Leadership). He began his primary teaching career with the South Australian Department of Education and later taught at Scotch College and Pembroke School before taking on the role of Deputy Head of Junior School at the Ballarat and Clarendon School.

In addition to his professional qualifications Andrew has enjoyed an amateur career in music having played in a variety of bands and has entertained with his singing at several high profile public functions. He is committed to personal fitness, coaches junior basketball and football and enjoys swimming.

Andrew particularly impressed the Selection Panel with his enthusiasm and personable nature. I am sure that he will be an excellent fit for our friendly and family oriented school. In conclusion, I would like to record my sincere thanks to Cynthia Hardjakusumah who has done such an excellent job as Acting Head of School during Term2.
