Selection Criteria

Pre-requisites

Expatriates must have at least 3 years teaching experience before you can apply for a teaching position at a recognised international school in Indonesia. Applicants must also be;

  • A fully qualified as a teacher, with a Degree in Education or post graduate qualification in Education. [TESOL or other short course certification is not sufficient]
  • A native English speaker.
  • Eligible for registration or licensing as a teacher in your home country.


Available Positions

1. Art Teacher (Secondary Campus, Jakarta)

Reporting to the Head of Campus, you will teach Art to students in Years 7 to 10 following the AusVELS curriculum framework.

Role

You will be asked to teach and further develop units of work and programs of study for secondary students. The school is about to enter an expansion phase and the successful candidate will be responsible for generating interest and enthusiasm for the Visual Arts ahead of our move to a new purpose-built campus.

The successful applicant will be required to commence duty on April 9, 2012

Criteria
  • Undergraduate studies with a major in Visual Arts plus an internationally recognised teaching qualification;
  • Excellent English communications skills (written & verbal);
  • At least 3 years of Secondary School teaching experience;
  • Resourceful, creative and self-motivated with an ability to work independently;
  • A good team member and leader with high-level interpersonal skills;
  • A sensitivity and empathy towards the expectations and understandings of people from diverse cultural, religious and language backgrounds;
  • An ability to thrive within another culture;
  • An ability to effectively work with people from non-English-speaking backgrounds;

  • Adaptability and flexibility with living and working in Indonesia;

2. AIS-Jakarta School Counsellor

Reporting to: Head of School (Pejaten)
Responsible for: Counselling Services and Student Welfare
Based at: Pejaten Secondary campus, but may be called upon to provide counselling support to Kemang Primary campus students

1. Counselling – Individuals

  • Provide counselling services for students and parents;
  • Initiate and respond to requests for interviews with students requiring counselling
  • Assist the Heads of School with:
  • 1. crisis management,
    2. trauma counselling and
    3. other emergency situations that may arise from time to time.
2. Counselling – Groups
  • Coordinate, initiate and deliver group counseling activities and interventions as required for students and parents
3. Welfare Coordination
  • Coordinate and facilitate Pejaten Student Welfare Exchange as a collaborative forum for developing support and welfare strategies to support students with needs including using welfare exchange to
  • Develop and write Classroom Strategy Plans (CSP) for students with support needs
  • Work with subject teachers and teaching assistants on IEP objectives or CSP welfare related provisions and provide advice on how these are best implemented in the classroom
  • Document and monitor outcomes of Welfare Exchange meetings
  • Coordinate and deliver student orientation program to new students at entry and enrolment milestones
  • Coordinate and monitor delivery of Relationships Education programs (Sexuality Education, Bullying)
  • Provide advice and professional expertise to the school in matters relating to student wellbeing
  • Respond to student welfare issues through interventions and strategies that sustain student well-being.
  • Promote practices and policies that take the students’ interests into account
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on student welfare issues
  • Provide classroom instruction in the Year 7 Social Skills Program.
4. Administration
  • Keep up-to-date filing, case notes and minutes on students referred to Welfare Exchange, or in care of counseling program.

3. Music/Drama Teacher (Secondary Campus, Jakarta)

Reporting to the Head of School, you will teach Music and Drama to students in Years 7 to 10 and possibly at the senior levels (Years 11 & 12) following the prescriptions of the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS).

Role

You will be asked to develop units of work and programs of study for secondary students. The school is about to enter an expansion phase and the successful candidate will be responsible for generating interest and enthusiasm for the establishment of a performing arts department.

Criteria
  • Undergraduate studies with a major in Music plus an internationally recognised teaching qualification;
  • Excellent English communications skills (written & verbal);
  • At least 3 years of Secondary School teaching experience;
  • Resourceful, creative and self-motivated with an ability to work independently;
  • A good team member and leader with high-level interpersonal skills;
  • A sensitivity and empathy towards the expectations and understandings of people from diverse cultural, religious and language backgrounds;
  • An ability to thrive within another culture;
  • An ability to effectively work with people from non-English-speaking backgrounds;
