Using the core learning subjects, we teach our students to develop and access knowledge in the following subject areas:
Over each year of study, each of these learning areas acts as the host for an extended unit of work. Normally, each unit of work takes about ten weeks to complete for the older students and less time for the younger students, depending on the complexity of the work.
Using our framework of learning outcomes, students and teachers determine needs by reviewing and planning their learning goals. The teacher is tasked with ensuring that the learning covers a full range in depth of thinking, allowing each student to experience success along with practical application.
Major features of integrated learning are its authenticity, relevance, collaborative approach and celebration of success. Annual curriculum audits ensure that future planning covers all learning outcomes within each learning area.
