AIS Balikpapan connects virtually with the State Library of NSW

Virtual Excursion

The Year 3/4 class and Ms Susan from AIS Balikpapan recently participated in a video conference with the State Library of NSW as part of their amazing Inquiry unit on Captain Cook, The First Fleet and The Convicts. The museum staff were so impressed to have an international school join the live conference and AIS Balikpapan students loved going on their “virtual excursion” with the team from the State Library of NSW. The State Library Learning Services Unit even posted about AIS Balikpapan on their museum intranet!

“It was great to see your students and share some of the wonders of the State Library collection with them. Being able to show primary sources of history in this way is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the significance of the items and invite interaction with students. We were impressed by the questions that were asked by your students and hope that they were able to take away some new learning from the experience".
